Why Learning Spanish Is Not Difficult

Learning your next language is always a great idea. Spanish is rapidly approaching equal usage as English in the US. Think about it: how many times are English messages repeated in Spanish? This is just one of the reasons why learning Spanish is a good idea. Yet there are a lot of people who experience difficulty with a new language. If new languages are difficult for you, what follows are some tricks and tips that may help you.

One theory about learning languages is the the best solution is immersion in the new language. That’s why visiting a place where the first language is Spanish would be an efficient way to learn that language. If you live in a big city this might be an area of your own city. Usually what this means, however, is traveling to another country so that you are not able to simply switch back to your own language when it is convenient. Language immersion puts you in a kind of sink or swim mode, which can practically force you to become fluent. For some, however, this puts too much pressure on them. It’s up to you whether or not this is the way you’d like to learn.

An important skill to acquire is to practice thinking in the new language. This takes some work, but as you are going about your day try to translate your thoughts into Spanish. You won’t be able to do this very well at first, but be patient. The idea is to take any internal dialogues you might have into the Spanish equivalent as much as possible. This is an ability you will improve at the more you practice it. You will be surprised at how fast you will be able to do this translation process once you practice it for a while. Before long you might find that you are thinking in Spanish without even making an effort to do so. The next stage is to take your internal thoughts and speak them out loud, so you learn how to converse in Spanish.

Become immersed in the language. Do you live in a town or city that has a neighborhood where the predominant language is Spanish? Listening to fluent speakers talk is a great training device. You may find a lot people really are happy to help others communicate in Spanish. You can get great practice in your new language without needing to leave the country! Learning Spanish, or any other language, does not have to be frustrating. The net is full of helpful ideas and cool tools to help you.

One great key to learning any language – an open mind. The more open you are to the process, the better you will absorb the knowledge. It will be much harder for you if you try to make it sound similar to your own native tongue.

(Five) Language Translation Misconceptions!

Businesses justify not using language translation services with many excuses. The bulk of these excuses are founded on common misconceptions. Here are the most common:

* It costs too much: Just like most other services, you get what you pay for. However, when you compare the total price with the total cost, language translation services come out far ahead. The cost of not investing in professional services can be astronomical not just from a financial perspective, but from a company image point of view. You also greatly limit the number of markets you penetrate and consequently, sales. When you compare how labor intensive language translation is, it’s clear the going rate now for these services is very competitive.

* I don’t need it for my industry: You won’t be able to make that call until you give it a chance. Maybe you don’t need it where you currently operate your business. But ‘your industry’ exists in other countries in the world, and they probably have the same viewpoint. The first ones to take the chance and challenge the norms are usually the first to pioneer great things for their industry. If you can reach out to others in your field by talking their language, you can open up endless possibilities with suppliers, customers and even the international media.

* It’s too long and complicated: Yes, it can be if you try to do it yourself. Right now there is a company that can manage your entire language translation needs as well as integrate them with other world class support services. This means not only are your language translation needs covered, but your other promotional needs such as copywriting, search engine marketing, advertising or even your hosting are taken care of. The result is your message goes faster and further than anyone else’s. Details

* I only speak one language: If you’re concerned you won’t be able to understand your customers when they communicate with you, rest easy. The company you choose to do your language translation can take full responsibility for this and make communication with anyone speaking a foreign language a breeze. Just make sure you partner with a company that doesn’t restrict itself to language translation, but has the infrastructure and resources to combine language translation with other services for optimal results.

* My company isn’t ready yet: If you don’t take the initial step, your company will continue missing out on potential sales. In fact, launching a new facet of your business will force your company to adapt for the better. That way, it’s well equipped to face other challenges along the way.

What makes it Hard to Learn French Fast?

If you’re trying to pick up French in a hurry, you’re going to run into plenty of frustrations. One of the things that makes it hard to learn French fast is that the French and English languages are often very similar. This can lead you to believe that they’re more similar than is actually the case, causing you to adopt poor pronunciation skills and to make assumptions about the meaning of words that may not actually be correct. To learn French fast, and to actually learn it right, you need to hear it used.

Oftentimes, standard language courses fail because they move right into reading and writing. Most often, the main components of the course will include reading and writing, listening and repeating. These methods are very, very old and aren’t necessarily the best ways to go about trying to acquire skills in a new language. For that task, newer ideas are called for.

Instead of using the reading and writing components, you may want to try materials that incorporate music and song. These materials help you learn French fast by encouraging you to listen and speak–or sing–more, which are more valuable activities for rapid language acquisition. If you think about it, no one in a Francophone country you visit is likely to expect you to read a French novel or write a letter in French. They will, however, need to understand you when you speak and be understood when they speak to you. This is why speaking and listening skills are so important. It’s also why songs are so effective.

When you’re singing, you’re basically exaggerating the pitch and diction properties of speech. This may be for artistic effect and, in some cases, it’s simply for amusement. Children are famous for singing nonsense songs to themselves and, sometimes, adults enjoy doing the same thing.

When you learn French by signing it, you’re working on your speech and listening skills. Singing adds some variety to the study and does an excellent job of clarifying pronunciation rules. If you want to get more out of your studies and if you want to learn French fast and accurately, singing is a powerful tool.

It’s never easy to learn French fast, but it can be fun and you can become conversational in a reasonable amount of time. It depends, however, on the materials you use to study.

Pimsleur English for French Speakers

The English language is one of the easiest languages to learn. It is further supported with the fact that many people use the language in communication, in science and in business. It is basically the universal language.

Learning the English language is an easy task. There are many tools in the market nowadays that make it just that. One of these tools is the Pimsleur English for French Speakers. This tool uses the principle of teaching the language by the Pimsleur English Language Learning System which is an audio-based system, in which the listener constructs phrases or repeats from memory along with a recording. Simon & Schuster currently is the leading packer of this system and it is made up of multiple thirty minute lessons which are then repeated up by the user until 80% of comprehension is attained so he or she can then advance to the next lesson. Because the lessons are being repeated and you can add new material to the current lesson, the lessons do not demand 100% mastery before moving on. This system is invented by the language educator Dr. Paul Pimsleur, the Pimsleur English Language course provides its prospective students with a comprehensive, self-instructional step-by-step guide on how to learn English.

The Pimsleur English Learning System was developed by using the four principles which Dr. Pimsleur had regarded as important to forming memory associations and language recall. The following principles are as follows:
1. Anticipation
2. Graduate-interval Recall
3. Core Vocabulary
4. Organic Learning

This system is so effective because it is built upon well proven techniques and methods that proved to enable rapid and successful language learning for students of all levels of experience. This unique audio method will enable the user of the tool to learn pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar without repetitive role learning, in a similar way to how we acquired our native language components.

The Pimsleur English for French Speakers is a course that includes a 16 hour spoken English language practice in thirty 30-minute lessons from the Pimsleur Comprehensive English Level I Program and there is also an additional introduction to reading. There is also a booklet and a user’s guide which will help through the learning process of using the Pimsleur Method.

The Pimsleur Anglais audio is a state-of-the-art language course for spoken English. This amazing and well-liked Pimsleur course does not use a book but uses a completely aural approach to language learning, which is really perfect in learning “on-the-go”. This also features a system of proficiency-base that assists the learner in learning through listening and speaking practice.

In using the Pimsleur English for French Speakers, one could surely expect to learn the English language in no time at all.

Figuring Out Japanese Last Names

Names are meaningful. They qualify you in a way that people can easily understand. Understanding what names mean, their origin, and what they signify is a curiosity for most and an obsession for others. There is much to uncover about the origin of names. Some prefer learning more about Russian or ancient Roman based names. Although, one of my favorite kinds are Japanese last names. They hold a lot of meaning for the Japanese people. Understanding more about their origin and background can help you understand their culture and history all the more. Let me share with you some interesting facts about these last names.

Overall, there are over 300,000 last names being used in the country of Japan. Some of the most known and normal Japanese last names would be Sato, Takahashi, and Kobayashi. About half a million Japanese citizens carry the name of Sato. Somewhat less use Takahashi. Kobayashi is attached to about 241,000 people. You may have heard of several others, in particular if you use Japanese made devices or vehicles. They have certainly put their branding out into the world and made many of their names household words that almost everyone has heard.

There is one large difference between Japanese last names and the naming structure practiced by most other cultures. Most often, English speaking people put their given name first and their family name second. This is reversed for the Japanese. For instance, instead of being John Smith it would be Smith John or Hashimoto John. Other Asian countries function in a similar way. This may seem a bit odd at first, but I would imagine that they think the same thing about others. For them it is perfectly typical. It is also important to note that Japanese do not typically have middle names. The Japanese royal family operates a bit differently in this department as well. They usually carry predetermined names as is the custom.

The tradition of a surname is important in Japanese culture. It can aid or hurt depending on where you live and who you interact with. In this case, it is not too different from western culture, but you may discover that Japanese culture takes it a bit further. This can influence one’s ability to get a career, be in good standing with the locals, or even impress a significant other’s family. It is far more complicated than what most people are used to. This does not mean a person cannot overcome hurdles simply because of their name. They are not cemented into other’s judgement for the rest of their lives. That may have been true in the distant past, but it is not the case at present.

Researching names is an enjoyable hobby for some and a career for others. Whichever it is you subscribe to, learning more about Japanese last names should be part of your schedule. Their culture is highly influential and their reach covers the globe. It is not such a terrible idea to learn more about them and their names. It can help you understand them better.

A Concise History of Austin, Texas

Long before Austin became the bustling city that we see today, it was a popular hunting and fishing area for many of the regional Native American tribes. Nomadic tribes, such as the Apache, Tonkawa and Comanche, made camp in the area and took advantage of the vast natural resources for their survival.

In the early 1830’s, white settlers founded a small village in the area, then called Waterloo, which was chosen as the capital of the Republic of Texas in 1839. It was then that the name of the settlement was changed to Austin, as a tribute to the founder of Texas, Stephen Austin. The small village began to grow into a thriving city in a very short period of time, with nearly 900 residents in just a few months of its selection as the capital.

The year 1845 brought the annexation of Texas into the United States. The state’s legislature approved Austin as the capital of the newly created state, and over the next several years, two public referendums confirmed this decision. Austin continued to grow and thrive, becoming the true heart of the state. When the railroad came to the city in 1871, Austin’s population exploded. Within half a decade, the population of the city rose from around 5,000 residents to 10,000.

The 1880’s brought the introduction of the city’s public school system. This, coupled with the opening of the University of Texas at Austin, brought a true sense of order and community to the city. In 1888, Austin’s state capital building was completed, bringing even more attention to the steadily growing city. It was billed at the time as the 7th largest building in the world. The building was constructed of pink granite and the peak of the building stands higher than the US Capitol building in Washington, DC.

From the early 1900’s through the 1950’s, Austin became a hub of manufacturing and innovation. There were factories, laboratories and think-tanks popping up all over the area, and many companies were finding that the city was the ideal location for their businesses. Even today, some of the best known technological innovators have their offices and factories around Austin. This high-tech attraction to the area has earned the region the nickname “The Silicon Hills.”

In the 1970’s, the interests of the people of the city seemed to turn to culture, the community and the environment. Well-known musicians, such as Willie Nelson, brought the attention of the rest of the country and the world to the city. The live music scene began to grown and Austin is now known as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Communities grew close and people worked together to make their neighborhoods safe and beautiful. The people and the government took steps together to preserve the area’s natural resources and to make Austin a cleaner, greener place to live. This trend has continued up to today, with Austin being a unique city, known for its music, strong community ties, and deep interest in environmental issues.

Learning German – Vocabulary and Grammar

In order to learn to read and speak any new language, there are two aspects to be mastered, vocabulary and grammar. Both contribute greatly and equally to one’s fluency in a language; and thus, none of the two should be neglected in favor of the other.

German Vocabulary

Acquiring vocabulary is pretty simple; as it’s just a matter of memorization. For the language we learn as children, this process is so transparent that we never recognize the importance of having a large vocabulary. Within a few years, a child may very well have already learned the meaning of thousands of words. Even words we have trouble defining; we readily understand their use in conversation by interpreting the meaning of the whole phrase.

This process can easily be re-accomplished by simply moving to another place where another language is spoken and having to get around and live without use of one’s native tongue.

However, the opportunity of residing in a German-speaking area is not always present to everyone. Thus, the student of German must make substantial effort in learning new words, including their meaning, their pronunciation, their gender (gender of nouns is EXTREMELY important when learning German), and how they are used within sentences.

It may be helpful to always have a German-English dictionary lying around. Using websites with interactive German language lessons might be one of the best ways to learn the language. Other sources of German, such as reading newspapers and magazines, or even watching translated movies and cartoons can also be very useful in building vocabulary and developing a sense of how German words are put together.

German Grammar

German grammar is similar to, but also a bit more complex than, English. It is possible to read German with minimal vocabulary in the sense that the student could generally recognize the parts of a sentence. Using a good dictionary, an English speaker can easily translate a German sentence close to correctly.

However, speaking and understanding accurate German is only achieved by learning the function, or role, of each word in a sentence. This is not quite as simple as in English, in which the word order in a sentence has more meaning. In German, the function of a noun is determined by the noun’s article and the suffix at the end of the noun itself. Thus, one must give special care to grammar when studying German; as any small change within a noun, could change the meaning of the whole sentence.

A Must Need for Children to Learn a Second Language

We all heard in the news or read in health and language articles that it is advantageous when learners begin learn language in as early as their childhood years. This is actually a factual case.

According to Amina Khan, writer of Los Angeles Times, a number of researchers conducted a study discussed at the 2011 American Assn. for the Advancement of Science meeting in Washington DC. If there is a study where children learning languages “provide a defense against some effects of Alzheimer’s or just provide a great workout for the brain” then the said study presents various benefits of a person being bilingual.

One of the findings of the said research was that that infants raised in bilingual households can tell unfamiliar foreign languages apart and those bilingual speakers who rapidly switch between languages are better mental multi-taskers than their monolingual counterparts, Khan wrote. In other words, bilingual speakers can infrequently use the wrong language, compared to monolingual speakers.

When children, for example knows French and German as his bilingual languages, he can easily determine when someone speaks French, he can speaks French; or German and vise versa. He is skillful and versatile enough to switch between these two languages and most accurately expresses his own thoughts. A monolingual however, knows only French; he won’t determine if the language is German because he not familiar with it.

Do you know that when learners learn language bilingually, these two languages he knows juggles in his brain that results to maximized cognitive advantages? In fact, a person who knows two different languages is less stressful compared to monolinguals. Personally, I agree with this because I really am a bit stressful especially when oftentimes I encounter Spanish terms with my employment scenery. I get stressed understanding these terms, that’s why if you know English and Spanish, lucky for you! Half of the causes of your stress are automatically eradicated!

These are very important effects that people should be aware of. Learning a second language does not only provide employment or international opportunities for them, but also for their own health benefits.

That’s why, as encouraged by this article proven by the research mentioned above, children, as early as three years old must learn another language. You’re not only investing incredibly wonderful knowledge for them, but you also prepared them to become someone in their own future success.
